The Outing

Finally got to go to the Farmer's market this past Sat..... and you can see I was attracted to the flowers.... Asiatic Lilies... wow... in a blue vase... stunning...must paint it.
You can just see the tomatoes on the table in the background.... there was a huge line for those... but I just had to get these colorful ones up front.... funny i work with flowers all week, and still i am attracted to them.... i bought 3 herb plants for the garden.

Emily was with me, we had fun walking the sweet street in Zionsville, stopping to take pictures of all the flowers... Emily is the prettiest flower on the street :)
We stopped to have coffee, then found this backyard garden filled with hollyhocks... Back to the studio I did a quick watercolor on green charcoal paper... .i am off to Vermont for 2wks...hope to paint and return with some expressions of Vermont... i will be painting with the famous artists.. Jack and Karen Winslow..... wow... what an honor!!!!!!

Enjoy the summer color !

Summer is Here

Summer is here....and Uncle Bill is back. It has been so long since I posted...I think the rules have changed...so my pictures are not in order...must find out how to do that from my experts in the family..... This is a sketch of a painting i want to do... have not done much painting.... sorry.
When Uncle Bill is around we do a lot of cooking...and have a lot of fun.... I even got to spend a night in his camper.... breakfast was delicious... Each night we come up with a different meal, and now we are picking from our own garden.... oh what joy....

Here is a picture of the two cooking experts... you can tell they really enjoy their craft

Uncle Bill keeps us laughing as he cooks up a dish... it is an event, we all get involved.

Here is a shot of Uncle Bill at his Indianapolis camp ground, and that's another story.

I will leave you with another idea for a painting... you can see I am enjoying the little yellow finches that have returned to the garden....
Have a great day in the sun .

Spring has Sprung :)

It has been an exciting few weeks watching Spring unfold slowly before our eyes. Each day when I drive to work I enjoy the green getting greener, the gentle buds on the trees pop open and display that soft pink against the lime green.....then those dark purple trees in the distance are such a lovely background for that new green and pinks and yellows.... The brown, grey earth is coming alive with color before our eyes, the bees are back... the birds are singing their little hearts out!!!

Have you noticed...Mama duck is hiding... and papa sits alone on the banks.... she is on her nest ....soon we will see those little ones dotting the ponds...
With all this color going on I had to sit and try to paint it all... I can never really get it all down on paper...but it is fun trying. I am so glad color is back in our landscape again... I think green is God's favorite color :)..... there are so many shades....

I don't see sheep on my way to work , but Lambs are born in the spring and this is one of my favorite things to paint, Sheep. .... Here is Mama and shy baby....

I hope you are enjoying each day of Spring as the earth once again rises to Praise and Worship its creator with all its wonder and beauty.... don't miss it... it will take your breath away...

Seashore Friends

I have been painting shorebirds and I thought I would share them with you....
I used to live by the water until I was 21...then have lived many places....but my favorite place is by the sea......there is nothing so wonderful than walking on a beach...or just sitting and listening

to the waves roll in...and watching these little birds run so fast catching their meal as the waves roll back to the sea..... how marvelous God made them ... long legs...and long peaks, perfect for running on sand and digging for those little things they eat.....:)

I now live in the Midwest .....and wow do I miss them and that ocean.... If you live by the sea.... enjoy it... all of it...and say hello for me.... :)

Here is my favorite the Redknot.... he is the long distance traveler...from the tip of S America to the Arctic!!! stopping in Maryland for a fast meal of horseshoe crab eggs...yum....
then on to have their young in the Artic.... what a bird!!!

Waiting

We have been waiting for Spring,.. for it seems a long time...but it is here and the first signs of it are so intensely exciting... how does that tender shoot push up from that hard cold ground.... ?.. we are thrilled by every green speck we see.... :)... I hope you are...I am....

My daughter is expecting her first child...and this has brought the joy of new life into the family again.... Rejoicing with her as she goes through the wonderful experience of waiting for the new life.... all the changes going on in her body. It so expresses the fullness of the unfolding Spring.

This has inspired me to paint these pictures .... Waiting on the nest...... I love the visual of bird on nest, it reminds me to be still and wait... and that waiting will burst forth in new life...new beginning and joy....
watch the new life appear....
Spring is here.

Thinking Spring

Today was a hard day.... my brother left on his journey south...I will miss him greatly. He is looking for warmer weather... I think we are all waiting in great anticipation for that wonderful warm day... Winter has its own beauty... but we are ready for the color to burst forth from the ground and those lovely sounds of birds singing in the morning. The smell of earth... do you remember what it smells like. :)Have you noticed the Canada Geese are pairing up ,... so sweet... nesting is next... :)
Little signs of spring... I love to look for them...
I spent the day working on ideas for paintings...and so I will share it with you...
I often put sparrows in my paintings. They remind me of the words our Lord spoke in Matthew 10:29.... He was talking to His disciples...."Are not two sparrows sold for a penny?, yet not one of them will fall to the ground apart from the will of your Father. And even the very hairs of your head are all numbered. So don't be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows."

So painting those little guys keeps me focused on how much my Father loves me....and you :)
I love peonies...they are a challenge to paint..but fun to try..

Remember to watch for the coming of Spring...see how many things you can notice outside...it is happening...don't miss its glory!!!
:)
